I see a lot of new beauty gadgets, especially since I travel to Japan a lot. In Australia, the first hype was about the Clarisonic skin care system. When I went to Myer just recently, I saw a Foreo Luna cleansing device too. It has made me really interested in new devices, because I was
never able to use the Clarisonic.
Do you need extra electronic helpers?
I am a sucker for new things, I have a Scholl Pedi Electronic Foot File plus I also have a Parlux hair dryer. In 2004 the Clarisonic face brush was introduced and I wanted to try one. I did lots of research online and in stores when they hit Australia and I finally decided to get one at David Jones since they have a great return policy. I love the feeling you get when you pull something out of the box that you think will change your life. It doesn't happen often, let's face it, we don't really NEED much to get by day to day. It also seems to happen less that you think, because some products don't live up to the hype.
Sure I was impressed by the Clarisonic's design and packaging. It was going to be a toothbrush for my face. I had high hopes that this little device was going to help me achieve skin that I dreamt of. All I ended up with was skin that was red and tingly and I knew that this device was way too harsh for me - I hadn't even used the Clarisonic skin care products because I knew I wouldn't be able to with my sensitive skin.
Around the time I was sick and had pustular acne, I went to see a dermatologist who recommended thinking about my diet, but they also suggested washing with Aspect Purastat 5 cleanser. This is an extremely expensive cleanser, but I thought I would give it a go. I had never washed my face with a gel cleanser before. They also recommended I buy bulk woven gauze lots to wash my face with instead of any electronic device. Electronic toothbrushes and Clarisonics combined with pressure from your hand can sometimes be too rough and can cause overwashing/overbrushing. Ok I thought. I will give the gauze a go.
Well, this was the best thing I could have ever done for my skin at the time. Your skin constantly changes, and you have to treat each symptom differently when it appears depending on quite a lot of factors like age, diet, climate etc. Yay for woven gauze! I still use gauze now, not as much for cleansing any more, but for things like removing nail polish and helping clean my hair line when dying my hair. The extra texture helps a lot. I also sometimes use it to exfoliate my lips. Clearly I didn't need an extra electronic skin cleansing device.
Just recently I was walking through Myer and I was the Foreo Luna Face Brush. This is still a cleansing brush apparently, but it looks like a mini egg. It reminded me of the pedi egg. This time I knew better and didn't buy it. However it didn't stop me looking up a review on the device to see what it did. Foreo must have paid attention to people like me, thinking that the Clarisonic skin care system was too harsh for them. They also haven't released product within their packs like Clarisonic. So what does the Foreo Luna face brush do?
The unique combination of T-Sonic pulsations with silicone touch-points gently exfoliate dead skin cells and unclogs pores of makeup residue, as well as 99.5% of dirt and oil*, enhancing the absorption of your other skin care products.
Sounds Fantastic. But I don't REALLY need one.
