Are Natural Cosmetics Better? Natural vs Original Formulas

If you have been reading Set to Glow for a while; you will be aware of my love for natural products. I use natural shampoo & conditioner, natural deodorant, 5 free/vegan/cruelty-free nail polish, natural lip balm & Burt's Bees lipsticks, natural hand cream and hand soap. I also use natural cleaning products around the house. Although I love all these things, there are a few things that I love that I can't replace with natural products. However; since I received some Luk Nip Nourish in beautiful new packaging, I set myself a challenge. To compare natural and toxin-free products with the original formulas that I love and felt like I couldn't get rid of. So which one wins my heart? Read on to find out...

Skincare and Cosmetic Expiry Dates

Do you make sure you clean your skincare and cosmetics out regularly? Do you pay attention to the expiry dates? Are they actually legitimate dates or can we extend some of them? These are all really interesting questions. Especially since there have been trends towards more organic and cruelty free products. There are also products with short shelf lives called skin food. Products made from ingredients you can actually eat.

Australian Beauty Brands

In the interest of trying to support local Australian businesses I am always on the look out for great Australian skincare and cosmetics brands. While I am totally able to list out quite a few skincare and personal care brands I am in love with, I know less about Australian makeup brands. So we're all in the learning boat together!

Being a fan of Organic and Natural products I am going to focus on these for this blog post. You may have read the list of natural products that I use in the Natural Lip Balms: Manuka Honey Benefits post. I mainly use natural products everywhere but my face I find natural and essential oils too heavy and clogging for the sensitive skin on my face.

What's In My Makeup Bag: The Products I can't do Without

I love reading about other people’s favourite products. Most of the bloggers I follow have posts every month summarising their monthly finds. I learn so much from these posts. Plus I totally want to buy heaps of stuff.

Set to Glow isn’t about promoting new products every month though, I am inspired to review what I use that I have found to work and things I own. In the interest of being completely honest about what is in my makeup bag, I decided to put together a post on the products I can't live without.

So what do I carry around all the time? What are my all time favourite products? Read on to find out…

Natural Lip Balms: Manuka Honey Benefits

I am eager to get behind as many natural Australian brands as I can. So when I was given the full range of Clean & Pure Lip Balms to try that feature Olive Oil, I jumped at the chance. My favourite Clean & Pure Lip Balm is the Manuka Honey variant. This got me interested in Manuka Honey and Manuka Honey benefits.

I am pretty obsessed with lip balm. I mentioned in my last post Lip Prep for the Perfect Lipstick Base: Sugar Lip Scrub that I have far too many to count. I feel like I can never have enough though, because I love that I can reach into any jacket, coat or bag and find the perfect lip balm. I am not alone in my lip balm obsession, when Lip Smacker announced that a fan could submit their dream lip balm flavour including the hashtag #LStastemaker and become the #1 Tastemaker, there were a number of suggestions. My favourite flavour suggested so far is unicorn flavour - and the lip balm would look like one of those marshmallow swirl lollies. Like the unicorn toast that has been on Instagram lately!!

Cosmetics Review: Burt's Bees Lipsticks and Lip Crayons

I am really interested in using natural products where I can. So far; because of my sensitive skin and perioral dermatitis, I use natural shampoo & conditioner, natural lip balm, natural hand wash & hand cream, natural pedicure products and as much natural household cleaning products that I can. You may say, when you read this, I use more organic and natural skincare and cosmetics. And you're right. However because I have sensitive skin, a lot of products with natural oils and ingredients are too heavy for me and break me out.

I do love my Burt's Bees Pear & Coconut Lip Balm to bits! It doesn't flare up my perioral dermatitis and it includes a whole heap of moisturising ingredients that last! So of course I wanted to try Burt's Bees 100% Natural Lipsticks and Lip Crayons.
